LASER METAL CUTTING
More than 15 years ago, Germantown Tool recognized the importance of offering laser metal cutting services. Laser cutting enables us to meet a wide range of customer needs, from single prototypes to production runs requiring thousands of parts.
The laser cutting process has added a new dimension to the metal fabricating industry. CO2 lasers—so named for their use of CO2 gas in the cutting process—have been the industry choice since their introduction, and for good reason. New fiber optic lasers have come to fill certain niches (primarily in the cutting of thinner-gauge materials), but like many others, Germantown Tool relies on the flexibility offered by CO2.

Using a .dxf file, Germantown can program the laser and be cutting metal in a matter of minutes. Coupled with our press brake department, we offer time-saving solutions for your next prototyping project.
When volume requirements are insufficient to justify the cost of building high-volume production dies, Germantown Tool’s laser-cutting services bridge the gap. Laser metal cutting has proven to be a cost-effective option for the production of one part or several thousand parts—all without the investment in expensive, high-volume dies.
With the January, 2012 addition of a new Han-Kwang 4000-watt CO2 laser cutting system, Germantown Tool has expanded its laser cutting capabilities to include:
- Steel up to 3/4" thick
- Stainless up to 1/2" thick
- Aluminium up to 3/8" thick
The Han-Kwang system is equipped with two 60” x 120” indexing worktables, allowing for both operator-free and lights-out operation. In addition, the system’s proprietary nesting software maximizes sheet yield while minimizing scrap. The benefit to our customers: quality and savings.
